DJ is 2

Okay, okay, he's been two for two days now. I guess I have to accept it. (Do I have to accept it?) While I grapple with that, here's everything you need to know about my sweet, tiny, crazy, happy, friendly little boy.

  • DJ is 34 inches tall (44th percentile) and weighs 23.5 pounds (4th percentile). Yeah, you read that right - he is REALLY skinny. It's hard to eat when you have so much to do and are constantly on the go. Plus, when your favorite foods are more or less calorie free... well... it is what it is, folks!
  • DJ has 16 teeth, which as mentioned above, are apparently more for show than anything. :)
  • DJ's favorite foods (when he chooses to eat) include:
    • Strawberries
    • Asparagus
    • Mushrooms
    • Green Beans
    • Tomatoes
    • Apples
    • Peanuts
    • Popcorn
    • Noodles
    • Chicken
    • Goldfish
    • Licorice (he likes black the best, but loves red, too)
    • Fruit snacks
  • DJ's favorite shows include:
    • Signing Time
    • Phineas and Ferb
    • Curious George
    • Finding Nemo
    • Wreck-It Ralph
  • DJ's favorite activities include:
    • Play dough time
    • Playing with his Superman action figures
    • Playing "Attack" with either swords or guns (best played with Dad or Uncle Donald)
    • Running
    • Legos
    • Swimming
    • Jumping on the Jumpoline (that's a real thing, guys)
    • Dancing and singing, most especially to "Shut Up and Dance With Me"
    • Coloring with sidewalk chalk
    • Blowing bubbles
    • Going to the Shark Reef Aquarium
Grandma Valentine sent this amazing life-sized Batman balloon for the birthday boy. He LOVES it and will be devastated when "Big BatBan" goes to the great latex beyond.

There was, of course, an epic party, because it's me and I'm ridiculous. Some of our favorite people joined us for a superhero swim party, and we had an absolute blast. We've all accepted how absurd I am at this point, right? So these are the cardboard cutouts that I painted for his party. Because that's a thing. They were awesome, so at least there's that!

We also had the honor of hosting my brother, his wife, and their two daughters. Ryan's doing a rotation for medical school in Phoenix, so they were kind enough to drive up and spend the weekend with us, just for DJ's birthday. We loved having them here, and though all of DJ's birthday was awesome, having them in my home was my favorite part.

Super DJ and Super Ellie, to the rescue!
DJ and Ellie are 6 months apart, so love each other and terrorize one another at any opportunity. This is how they chose to watch Curious George together.
Ryan got some good studying done for his ENT rotation.
When your birthday is 7/11, you bet there are Slurpees to be had! Even Annie got one!
Ellie the Superhero!
Terrible family selfie? Yup!
Reading Clifford with Uncle Deg
DJ got to take Ellie to church with him, which made going to nursery a lot easier.

The adults. Deg was trying to be funny because he thought Ry was pulling a face, too (a fair assumption). After we put the kids to bed, we laughed our faces off playing "Do you know this song from the '90s" based on several of Google's top lists of songs from the 90's.
