"I want Ammie"

DJ is becoming more and more able to express himself through spoken word. For example, today, he went up to the front door, tried desperately to reach the handle, looked me in the eye, and said, "I want Ammie." He meant my sister, Amber, and for good reason. One, she is the favorite aunt (Lindsey - these are her words, not mine!) Two, she recently came to visit, and DJ just can't adjust to her not being here.
DJ fake sleeping on Amber's bed, waiting for her to get here.

She and her boyfriend came over the Valentine's/Presidents' Day weekend. They got here on Friday night and watched DJ while Deg and I went out for dinner and to see Blue Man Group downtown. And by they watched DJ, I mean they basically had gun and sword fights for 3 hours. You know, like you do.
Gun fight

Sword fight - seriously, the amount of weaponry this weekend was amazing!
We got dressed up for our big night out, so why not take a picture of that!

The next day, we all got up and I made a big breakfast. I was also getting ready for my Sunday School lesson the next day, so I was chocolate dipping strawberries (again, like you do), so we had some chocolate with breakfast. We do what we want! Anyway, after breakfast, Amber and Ryan went downtown to shop and sight-see. We stayed behind to get ready and let DJ nap, but met up with them after at the Golden Nugget, where we had a fantastically delicious meal and probably the worst waiter I have ever seen. Seriously, he took our order with an attitude, someone else brought our drinks, someone else refilled them, someone else brought our food, someone else took our plates, and our server came back to give us our check in a bad mood because the guy who took our plates left one (because heaven forbid he do any work). It was actually pretty funny. Anyway, we tooled around Fremont Street after, where they had a stage set up with music playing. People (drunk people) had formed a circle around the stage and the "brave" ones were dancing in the middle. DJ wanted to join, so... we let him. And he quite literally had everyone's attention for the 3 songs we let him dance to. Not kidding - there were girls dancing on a bar next to us to try to get people to come drink there, and NO ONE was watching them. Lesson: put some clothes on, ladies! Anyway, DJ was really mad when we made him stop dancing. We then walked Fremont Street and tried to keep from seeing all the people there dressed (or rather, undressed) to get attention and tips until it was time for DJ to go to bed. Amber and Ryan went off to Blue Man Group and to walk the rest of the Strip at night and we went home.
Breakfast of champions
Remember how DJ doesn't like food? Well apparently, he likes calamari. Go figure.

Dinner at The Grotto in Golden Nugget
They have a water slide that goes through a shark tank. We weren't dressed appropriately, so we just took a picture near it all. DJ loved it, because he LOVES sharks. We will be coming back here.

These two are cute
DJ, the Dancing Vegas Baby

This is the best video we got of DJ dancing. Please ignore the bum cleavage of the orange shirted gal who was dancing with him.

They got a picture with one of the blue men.
The next day, we went to church, came home, took a big nap (not kidding - we all napped), and then Amber took DJ to the park while I made dinner. We ate (and DJ and Deg had a lettuce sword fight, like you do) and then got ready for dessert. I'd seen these brownie bowls on Pinterest and decided to make them. I did not take a picture, but dang, what a Pinterest fail that was! They still tasted good, and we had them with homemade ice cream and all the toppings, just to celebrate Ryan's 29th birthday (which was the next day).

Lettuce fight!

He wouldn't let her out of his sight!

Amber and Ryan stayed for breakfast the next day, and then they tried to leave. I say tried because DJ tried his darnedest to get them to stay. He wanted to play football in the streets, he wanted a hug, he wanted a kiss, he wanted to dance... I mean, how can you leave that? Eventually they did, and DJ had a hard day because Ammie wasn't there to play with him. Luckily his Papa (how he says grandpa) is coming to see him in a few weeks, so he won't be sad for long!

This is his new "catch the football" stance. Because obviously.
