7 Months

DJ turned 7 months old yesterday (oh my!), so here's his monthly run-down. He made a TON of developments this last month, and it's been fun to get to watch him. He has the sweetest personality and it is a joy to be his mom.
  • DJ is babbling up a storm. From dada to Baba to mama, it's pretty much all day. Interesting note: mama is reserved for when he's mad or upset. Yesssss!
  • This kid rolls all over the place. And since he can turn in circles on both his tummy and his back, he is surprisingly all over the place. He's still doing the backwards head scoot, though not as often as he has realized that rolling is easier.
  • He can get up on his hands and knees for a second or two, so that's fun for him. He can also creep backwards on his tummy if he's in a good mood.
  • He loves to sit and will do so for as long as I let him. He likes to sit in the special chairs at restaurants and in the front of grocery carts. He likes to try to sit up from a lying down position, but he still need a little ab strength first.
  • He still loves to jump and has figured out how to jump in his jumper so that it swings. He's going to need sports when he gets bigger - that kid has so much energy!
  • He's started to eat grown up food. He's had cheese, apples, cucumber, bread, crackers, turkey, ham, beef, chicken, those dissolving baby puffs, rice cake, orange, strawberry, avocado, yogurt, beans, grapes,  and rice. He's a good eater - he'll even eat my green smoothie with spinach, kale, berries, and peaches. He doesn't love the baby food version of peas or beans, but I don't blame him - they stink! He loves to reach for and try to eat whatever Deg and I are eating and loves it when we share.
  • Speaking of eating, he's working on feeding himself. With bigger things like the rice cakes, he just has a blast. He's learned to pick up the baby puffs and put them in his mouth by himself, so that's really fun. That pincer grasp is a difficult skill, so props, buddy!
  • He has his first tooth! It's barely sticking through the gum on the bottom, but it's there enough that he's no longer allowed to chew on my fingers. The other bottom one will follow soon.
  • He is obsessed with my phone and makes every effort to hold and then eat it. Not happening, little dude! Nice try!
  • He still loves that darn fox song. But he loves all music and is happy to bounce along with it. He loves it when Deg or I dance with him.
  • His laugh is great and he loves to use it. He likes to play games like fly with Daddy, peek a boo, tickle, and keep away. His favorite toy is his plush Darth Vader doll (thanks, Roseberrys!) and he also really loves his blocks (thanks Grandma Deb!).
  • He is an insufferable flirt and will smile at anyone. And I know I am biased, but he seems to be able to brighten anyone's day. He's just so cute and friendly - you can't resist him!
  • He loves going for rides in his stroller. Well, as long as the sun isn't in his eyes. He gets almost as excited to see the stroller as he does the bathtub, and that's saying something!
  • He thinks it's hilarious to shove Deg's head to the side so he can get to Daddy's ear and eat it. He also likes to stroke my face and is really interested in eating my hair. He's not a huge cuddler, but if you ask him (and he's in the mood), he'll give you a hug or a kiss. So sweet!
