I digress. The point of telling you that I'm a huge Christie fan is that I have decided to play Agatha and write my own murder mystery. For 40. Okay, so mine's not a novel but is a script for a murder mystery dinner party, but with the amount of work and background info I've put into this, I might as well write it in novel form. And I have absolutely loved it, so will therefore tell you all about it.
The year is 1922. We have been gathered together by our host, Mort Bloodless, aboard his yacht, The Delicti, in the Mediterranean Sea to celebrate the sale of his multimillion dollar company, Ex Pired, Inc., producers of the world’s fastest growing daisies. On the first night aboard, everyone gathers to the yacht dining room for introductions, dinner, and socializing. Upon meeting in this state, we find our host does not arrive. When one of the yacht staff is sent to check on him, he comes back with terrible news – our host, Mort Bloodless, has been found dead in his stateroom. There are 8 suspects:
· Lively Bloodless, the son and heir to Mort’s fortune
· Raven Bloodless, Mort’s (much younger) second wife
· Ed Acious, Mort’s personal assistant for over 20 years
· Euphemia Faire, Mort’s cousin and aspiring fashion designer
· Foster Bones, Mort’s trusted personal physician and traveling companion
· Remedy Wane, Dr. Bones’s young niece and nurse assistant
· Bent deBauche, owner of Wan Ton, Ltd. and purchaser of Ex Pired, Inc.
· Victory Feign , Lively’s fiancee and aspiring actressAll of them have a viable murder weapon and all of them are hiding information about themselves. The tawdry case takes some unexpected twists and turns as we find out the sordid pasts of each of the characters - none is without flaw. And by the end, we have our murderer! Don't you wish you knew whodunit? Bwa ha ha ha! Well, once I put this into either a novel or a short story, you can!
I'm telling you that I have had a blast writing this thing. I've made invitations, boarding passes, over 40 fake names, put together alibis, weapons lists, background stories, on and on and on. Seriously, it's so much fun and if you are into this kind of thing, you should try it.
What do you think, reader? Should I write it out in story form and let you read it?
