Grandma Laura

Deg's Grandma Laura is going to be 95 in a few weeks. She is in the final stages of Alzheimer's, and we're not sure how much longer we'll have her around. She got sick in November, and things were so bad, all her funeral arrangements were made then. However, it just wasn't her time, and we've still got her for now. That being the case, when we went to Boston for Christmas, one of my top priorities was to record as much of Grandma as I could so that we can have those memories of her. And because this is my blog and I get to do whatever I want to do with it, I'm going to share with you.

She sure loves Deg and was so excited to see him.

Talking with  mom and Grandma right before lunch. "Talking" with Grandma is relative. She'll talk to anyone, but her sentences, if they are complete, usually don't make any sense. Sometimes, she sees things and people who aren't there, but they're never threatening to her, so she stays incredibly happy.

OK this was the sweetest thing. Deg leaned over and said, "Grandma, I have something very important to tell you and you have to promise to never forget it. I love you." She responded by grabbing his hand, shaking it up and down, and stating emphatically, "Oh, I'm so thankful that you said that. And I love you too." We both started crying right then and there.

She loves giving Deg kisses and he loves getting kisses from his grandma.

Chris was able to take a 4 generation picture with his daughter, mom, and grandma. How cute does she look here? I'm pretty sure she was singing to us. She sings all the time. Songs are stored in a different part of the brain, so she often remembers these when everything else seems to be gone.

This is the sweetest video of Deg and Grandma swapping kisses.

Linda and her mom singing together. They do this often. The nurses at the home Grandma is in say that they love it when Linda comes to visit because they can hear both of them singing from down the hall and it makes their day.

That is so sweet. Loved the videos. Mona Jean loved the singing one. She even clapped for them. Those are priceless memories.
