Day 20: a letter to someone that changed your life
Dear Mom and Dad,
At some point, this was bound to happen, right? Eventually I would admit how great you guys are and how much I look up to you. After housing me and my attitude through high school, you deserve it! It is impossible to detail all the ways you have changed my life. Even if I had the time and space to write them all, I'd undoubtedly forget something. I do want to let you know how grateful I am for you and all of your countless, selfless contributions to me and the other kids. At the very least, I wouldn't be here without you. But more than that, you gave all of your time and energy into helping us become the best people we could possibly be, which wasn't an easy task and which I didn't make any easier. You taught me about unconditional love and transferred to me a testimony of the gospel. I can hardly imagine where or what I'd be if I had a different set of parents raising me. Dad once told me that Deg was the perfect guy for me because he was the only person who could put up with me as a spouse. That's very true. However, I'd also like to submit that you two are the only people who could have been my parents because you're the only ones who could have put up with me as a teenager. The older I get, the more I realize what you've done for me and how grateful I become for all those things. I hope one day to be as awesome as the two of you. And, although I said the exact opposite a bajillion times in the 10th grade, I hope I'm at least as good a parent as you two are to me. I love you both very much and am eternally grateful for everything you have done for me.
Love you,
Jessica
