In my health class, we just finished our drugs and alcohol unit and we have just moved on to the nutrition and fitness unit. During my prep period, there is a math class in my room. As the math class was working on their assignment the other day, I was using my time to take down the "Just Say No" pamphlets the students had made so that I could put up some food guide packets they'd made. There is one student in that group who is just so adorable - she just says whatever is on her mind, and it's usually ridiculous and hilarious. And as I'm taking down these pamphlets and she's supposed to be working on math, she decides to make a comment. The conversation goes something like this:
Student: Mrs. Valentine, stop with the drugs. You know they're bad for you. Plus, do you know how many calories there are in drugs?
Me: Umm... actually, unless you're talking about alcohol, there aren't any calories in drugs.
Other students in the room grumble in agreement.
Student: Oh... well... in that case, never mind, they're healthy for you.
This she says as she literally frolics back to her desk.
Needless to say, we were rolling with laughter after that one. And that cute little just sat in her desk with a huge smile on her face.
Oh children...
