Thank you, Scripps Spelling Bee

We are doing the Scripps Spelling Bee, which means I get to look at lots of words. One in particular seems to need to be shared:

mosquitoey - adjective (Webster's Third page 1473, column 3)
[This word consists of a word that went from Latin to Spanish plus an English combining form}
full of any numerous two-winged flies that have a rather narrow abdomen and usually a long slender rigid proboscis that contains a set of needle-like organs with which they puncture the skin of animals to suck the blood.
Example sentence: Dale pitched his tent on the hill above the mosquitoey swamp.

Um.... !?!
