Television

I'm not a TV person. I mean, I like to watch it, but I don't have shows that I follow. That's not who I am. The closest I've ever gotten to being "one of those people" is getting into "Arrested Development" once it was available on DVD.

Or so I thought.

As you already know if you keep up with my blog, I got into "24." I watched the first 5 seasons on DVD, but watched 6 and now 7 on TV, so I guess that's my crossover. And so now here I am in TV land. This week, I've been sucked into two more shows I know I won't be able to rid myself of.

"Lie To Me": Shown on Fox on Wednesday nights at 8 pm, "Lie To Me" is produced by the brains behind both "24" and "Arrested Development." If that isn't reason enough for me to watch the show! "Lie To Me" is in its first season, and while it's actually only one episode in, I know I'm hooked. Dr. Cal Leightman is basically a human lie detector, hired out by the government to use his methodologies to understand and crack criminals. His factual manner and his sassy sidekick, Ms. Torres, have me wondering what they'll uncover next - and how much people know from looking at my subconscious reactions to situations! Luckily, hulu.com has full episodes, should you want to join me here in watching the science unfold.

"Fringe": Introduced to me by the Degster, "Fringe" airs on Fox on Tuesday nights at 8. (Dang, Fox, why don't you just sweep me away with your amazing shows!) Created and produced by J.J. Abrams, who also works with "Lost" and "Alias," this show is, in Deg's own words: "X-Files meets 24." We follow Olivia Dunham, special FBI agent, whose job it is to work with a doctor whom she has had to blackmail his way out of an insane asylum by means of his sassy son, Peter. (Peter, played by Joshua Jackson, is known for being Pacey on "Dawson's Creek.) Fringe science is the supernatural explained through experimentation and, well, science. I enjoy watching the butt-kicking cop action and I love the make-you-think sort-of science aspect of the show. "Fringe" is in its second season, and again, all episodes are on hulu.com.

So here we go with my shows: "Arrested Development," "24," "Lie To Me," and "Fringe," all produced through Fox. Wow. Yep, I'm one of those people. Luckily, between DVDs, hulu, and techie-Deg, I don't have to be addicted to the shows AND to the TV at the same time. Yes, I realize this means I'm wasting hours of my life on these shows, but if you have the time, I'd check out an episode or two of each. I think you'll be surprised what my dear friend Fox has to offer...
