For Labor Day weekend, Deg, DJ, and I were able to head to St. George for a few days. We met my parents and my two youngest siblings, Dan and Lindsey at my grandparents' winter home (which they let us borrow) and spent the weekend together. It was really fun and an absolute joy to spend some fun, quality time together.
On Saturday, we drove down to do a little shopping and eat lunch/dinner (linner?) with everyone at Buffalo Wild Wings so that we could watch the BYU football game. PS can we say AMAZING ending?!?! After we quit screaming, we went back to the house to prepare for the evening's festivities. My parents bought some tickets to Tuacahn, a beautiful outdoor theater in St. George. Children under 3 aren't allowed, so we considered taking DJ to the daycare they offer there, but Deg decided he'd just stay at the house with Deej while the rest of us went. Ordinarily, I'd call him a party pooper for this, but he's been working 10 hour days plus coming home and working another 3-5 hours a night for weeks preparing for a huge trade show in Chicago, so honestly, he needed the break. He and DJ crashed before we left and slept for most of the time we were gone, then went to bed at a reasonable time once we got back. The rest of us ran off to watch When You Wish Upon a Star, which it turns out is super fun and was gorgeously staged and costumed. Imagine a full-energy stage production of every Disney song you love. It was awesome and I would definitely go see it again.

On Sunday, we went to church and then my parents ran to KFC to grab some chicken and we had a picnic at a cute park near my grandparents' house. My sibs lounged in the shade while DJ played on the toys and ran around the splash pad (he loves those things but will NOT touch the water). Then Deg and DJ napped again (I'm telling you, the amount of napping they both did was epic and necessary for everyone's health and happiness) while I helped Lindsey with a homework assignment. We all played a card game after that and just had a really good time sitting around and enjoying each others' company and dorking off (as would be expected when siblings get together).

Monday was Deg's birthday, but because of the trade show, we had to leave fairly early to get back to Vegas so Deg could get in as much work as he could. So my parents got some amazing cinnamon rolls, we sang to Deg, and then drove back. The good thing about leaving that early was that we hit none of the returning Labor Day traffic. And my family didn't stay much longer either - my parents had to drive all the way back to IF, dropping off Dan and Lindz along the way.

Man, I'm glad I live close enough to be able to participate in stuff like this! Especially with my two youngest siblings. They were teeny when I moved away, so it's fun to create memories with them and spend time with them as adults. They are pretty spectacular people!
