Someone is 10 Months Old!

This little boy is getting big too fast! He's learning and growing and just as cute and funny and friendly as can be. Here's what's new in his life.

  • DJ has been working on pulling himself up on (and through) everything. He loves to crawl over the legs of his high chair, his ExerSaucer, and any other obstacle he can find. He tried to climb into the dishwasher, but his mean 'ole mom wouldn't let him. He did stand there and "help" his dad load it, though! He's also climbed a few stairs (whaaaat?!), so we've baby gated everything. That hasn't stopped him from accruing a few really cute bruises on his face, though!
  • No matter how well I clean the house, there's always something (a speck of dust, a strand of hair) to find on the floor, and it all goes in his mouth, so that's fun! It also means that all electrical cords and shoes are now his favorite chew toys, and that anything on the bottom of any shelf has had to be replaced with toys. It's funny to see how curious he is and how much he desperately wants to be in and around everything.
  • Since he's incredibly apt at his army crawl, he likes to follow me. For example, if I'm cooking in the kitchen, he's around (or on top of) my feet. It's hilarious. He also likes to hide. If I'm getting ready in the bathroom, he likes to crawl in the closet, close the door, and open and close it in order to play peek-a-boo with me.
  • In the last few days, he's taken to grabbing my arm, putting his open mouth on it, blowing a toothy raspberry, and laughing at himself. He is pretty funny, and doesn't he know it!
  • He also is what we like to call "noisy." From the time he wakes up to the time he goes to sleep, he's squealing, babbling, screaming, growling, laughing, and generally making noise. For the most part, it's happy noise, which makes it fun.
  • He's getting his third tooth as we speak, which means the last few days have been a little more cranky than normal. "Cranky" is a relative term - cranky for him isn't that bad, but since he's normally super happy, when he gets upset, it's a pretty big switch. This third tooth is on the bottom right, next two the two he's already popped out. We're hoping that tooth gets here soon!
  • He loves to clap. He especially likes to have you look at him while he's clapping and then clap back. He also loves playing Patty Cake, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, and Popcorn Popping.
  • He has decided that holding still for diaper changes is not happening. Ever. For wet diapers, this is no big deal, but for poopy ones... oh boy, is it (at least) a two person job. And with curious little fingers, everyone gets messy in the process. It's exhausting.
  • He refuses to eat unless he feeds himself. He'll let me sneak in a spoon or forkful every once in a while, but for the most part, if he doesn't put it in his mouth, it's not going to be swallowed. And his rate of getting the food both in his mouth and swallowed rather than chewed and spat back out is about 40% on a good day. So we have fun messes to clean up. He still also prefers to drink water from a cup, though he will drink from a sippy cup now, as long as he gets to hold it.
