DJ is just over two weeks old, so let's get an update on everyone's favorite baby, shall we?
At birth:
Height: 20.5 inches long (10th percentile)
Weight: 6 lb 8.6 oz (10th percentile)
Head circumference: 32 cm (5th percentile)
Upon going home:
His weight dropped to 6 lb 3 oz and he developed jaundice. We got a take-home BiliBlanket that he had to wear for a few days, and we had to take him to the hospital to get his bilirubin levels tested for 4 days until they dropped low enough for him to be taken off of it. When he was 5 days old, we went in for his new baby check up - by that point, his birth weight was back up to 6 lb 7 oz. (For those of you who don't know, after babies are born, they lose 5-10% of their birthweight, which they should gain back by the time they get to their 2 week well-baby check up.)
Well-Baby check up (today):
They didn't do stats this time (they'll do it at his one month appointment), but they did weigh him. He's 7 lb 14.5 oz, so he's doing just fine.
His little arms and legs and cheeks are getting a little chunk on them. He's doing really well and is a very chill baby. Well, except at 3 in the morning, but that's because I have no patience at 3 in the morning because it's, well, 3 in the morning. His eyes are starting to turn blue (both Deg and I have blue eyes, so no surprise there on what color DJ's eyes will be) and he loves looking at lights. He's super good at holding his head up when you sit him on your lap and he likes to have his feet and chest rubbed. He refuses to sleep with his arms tucked into his blanket - they must be up by his face or over his head. He loves to snuggle and is a fan of Skype (he loves seeing his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins on there). He will do anything his Grandma Hall tells him to do (I swear, she's the baby whisperer). He doesn't hate tummy time (he can pick up his head and turn it from one side to the other), though I can't say he loves it either, and he doesn't totally hate baths, either. He really doesn't hate anything. Well, except maybe being hungry, but then again, don't we all? He loves riding in the car and in his stroller. He and his dad are best friends, and if I've been able to pump some milk for them, DJ loves having his daddy give him a bottle. Enough of the words, though - let's see some pictures, shall we?
