Yeah, yeah, it's nearly New Years. See post below for your explanation. In the meantime, here's the proof it happened.
Behold, the feast! And because it's me, it was all homemade. Caveat - Deg made the cranberry relish, so I didn't make all of it. But that's a pretty good little feast, no?
We have 2 different sets of elders in our ward and we invited all 4 gents over for the feast. I figure that if I invite them over, Karma will provide a place for Danny to eat. Totally logical, right? Plus, let's be real, I just like taking care of people and having an excuse to cook up a storm.
This is the best pumpkin pie in the whole world. It looks kind of nondescript, I know, but it is really the best ever. Bowen cousins - it's Grandma's recipe. You know what I'm talkin' about! Even one of the elders commented that it's the best pumpkin pie he's ever had. Yeah it is!
This is my tragic apple pie. It looks delicious, sure. It smelled delicious. But it was horrendous. Someone (me) decided to make the pie at 10:30 at night after having woken up from a nap (yes, I wake up from naps at 10:30 pm sometimes). Long story short, the pie contained not 6 tablespoons of sugar, but 6 tablespoons of salt. That's nearly a cup. Mmm! Good thing everything else went well so I felt like I wasn't a total failure! Wicked funny, though.
We had a fabulous time with the elders, and we enjoyed having their company. I love it when they get to come over and share a message with us, and I love helping take care of them by feeding them. What can I say? It's what I do! It was kind of sad being away from both our families for the holiday (I did invite both of them here, though they all had plans), but I immensely enjoyed putting the feast together.
