DJ's 3rd Birthday Party

DJ wanted an Egypt birthday party. Because that's what kids always want, right? So DJ got an Egypt birthday party. And that took a lot of work and a lot of making stuff up. But it was hilarious and the kids had a great time. We did an archaeological dig, pin the beard on the Sphinx, colored pages of Egyptian scenes, beat a mummy pinata, wrapped ourselves in toilet paper, ate mummy dogs, ate a pyramid cake, and generally had a noisy but fun time with 11 kids. Wanna see? Of course you do!

Nothing says "Egypt birthday party" like a pinata. Whatever, it looked like a mummy.

How many kids can you stick in a cardboard pyramid?

How many kids can you fit in a cardboard sarcophagus?

Archaeology activity - we buried marbles, fake jewels, and Egyptian figurines in sand and let the kids dig them out. This was probably the kids' favorite activity.

Pin the beard on the Sphinx.

If you're gonna have an Egypt party, you're gonna get wrapped up in toilet paper like a mummy.

More mummies!

Even more mummies!

Pinata time!

Watching small kids beat a pinata is hilarious, by the way.

It's not as great as the one Linda made DJ for his birthday, but not too shabby - a little graham cracker "sand" goes a long way!

Cake is the best part of any party.

A close up of the sarcophagus.

A close up of the pyramid. I did draw bricks on it, but you get the idea.
