I'm always working on one project or another, it's true. In fact, I'm usually working on three or four projects at a time. So when I say I'm taking a break for a minute, you know it's because my hands were full. Let me show you what I've been up to!
| It's poor photo quality (yay cell phone pic with flash because I can only remember to take said pic at like 11 at night), but this fun sign is one of my latest endeavors. I had Deg cut the arrow tips of the signs, but the rest is all me. The coolest part is that the signs are reversible and have Christmas-themed notions on the back. I don't have a picture of that, so come December, I'll snap a shot and show that off. |

| The rocking chair in the corner is one of my projects. I bought it from a friend whose family has outgrown the need for a rocking chair. It was in great condition, but needed some TLC. Did you know that rubbing alcohol and a white sponge will take stains out of almost anything? I do now! It looks fantastic! And yes, I realize this room is like all cream colored. At some point, I'll get a colored rug to mix things up a bit. |
| This project might be the hardest/coolest one I've worked on in a while. Please ignore the oil puddle to the right of the table - Deg's work car is struggling and I just can't even think about that right now. Anyway... the same friend who gave me the chair also gave me this tiny little table and chairs that her kids had grown out of. They were in great structural condition, but needed some sanding and some paint, so off I went. |
| I started with a sanding to even things out, then put a coat of primer on everything. The table was finished days before the chairs, but that's because it was a lot easier to work with. Once primed and painted, it got a coat of polyurethane so it can be easily wiped down when the inevitable sticky foods get smeared all over it. |
| The chairs were another beast. First, Lowe's mixed the wrong color of paint. Boo. Then, I suck at painting furniture, so I had to sand them down and start over. By the way, it turns out that spray paint is a bajillion times easier on furniture than regular paint. Just an FYI. Anyway, they got a polyurethane coat, too. I then went to Target and got some cheap but relatively cute cups, bowls, plates, forks, and spoons, and added them to the table. I'll be adding some mustard yellow cloth napkins here, soon. DJ loves that he can reach everything on here and loves to "eat dinner" at his new table. |
Yay projects! Yay taking a break now from projects! Oh but don't worry, Halloween is upon us, so I'll bust out my sewing machine soon. Mwa ha ha ha!
