So how is this dude 6 months old? Wasn't he born just yesterday? He's turning into my cute little man instead of being my cute little baby. Not that I'm not enjoying him at this stage, I'm just amazed at how big he's getting. Let's look at his developments this month.
- He's become a pro at solid foods. He eats it all and loves it all... except cereals. His pediatrician says that's okay, and the guy's a professional, so I'll believe him. Deej loves fruits, veggies, and the little bits of real grains and meats I've let him try (pasta, chicken, etc). He loves drinking out of a big boy cup and is getting better at not making a mess when eating.... most days. :)
- He is a rolling fool. He's recently discovered that rolling onto his tummy isn't a form of torture, so now he's either head scooting or rolling all over the place. It's only a matter of time until crawling happens. Guess I'd better start babyproofing everything. He's already scooting himself over to furniture and, if it has a handle that he can reach, yanking for it.
- He still groves to The Fox by Ylvis but has recently discovered Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood and Barbara Ann by The Beach Boys. He still loves music and will bounce along with the rhythm.
- He can sit up for upwards of a minute at a time before tipping over. He loves being able to sit and do stuff - it makes him feel like such a big boy.
- We finally moved him into a real crib from the bassinet (we were waiting to move before putting together a crib - didn't make sense to build it only to take it down and re-build it). It's taking him a bit of time to figure it out, but he seems to like the extra room now. He thinks it's funny to suck on the bars of the crib. Mmm, wood finish!
- He loves making noises, whether it be spitting, cooing, or squealing. He hasn't started babbling yet, but it's only a matter of time.
- He loves other kids. He loves to see babies or kids just older than him and reaching for them. He wants to hold hands and pat their faces and just love them. He's going to be quite the social little dude.
- He loves adults, too. I know he'll get to the "stranger danger" stage, but for now, he just loves anyone who wants to look at him. He flirts with everyone and anyone. It's fun to go shopping because everyone becomes his new best friend.
- He has the funniest laugh and we can really get him going at bath time. He'll laugh at other times, too, but when he knows it's time to get ready for a bath, it's like something grabs his funnybone and won't let go. He's pretty ticklish on his sides and doesn't mind being tickled, so that's fun.
- He is making a real effort to give my chin a hicky. I think he's using it as a teether, and it's pretty funny. He's got a strong bite, even if it is toothless for now.
- He is grown a ton of blondie hair, but only in the mohawk area of his head. It's pretty cute.
- If I ask him for kisses, he'll give my cheek a big, open-mouthed slobbery kiss. He won't do this for anyone else, so lucky me!
- He's learned to shake his head "no." He doesn't realize it means no, but he knows he gets a reaction out of it and that we think it's funny, so he's getting really good at it.
- He's figured out that his ears are really funny to pull on. I had his pediatrician check to make sure it wasn't an earache, and it's not - they're just funny toys.
- He loves to "help" me in the kitchen. I'll stick him in his Bumbo and give him a spoon or spatula, and it's like the best day ever. I think he's going to like helping me cook when he gets a bit older.
- He jumps, like, 24/7. In his bouncer. On my lap. In his ExerSaucer. If he can find a way to jump, he's jumping. Maybe he'll be a high jumper in the Olympics one day!
There's a ton more, but if I don't stop, I'll get obnoxious. Happy 6 months, cute boy!
