As an adult, birthdays kind of get lame. I was joking with my sister that I was going to celebrate by washing my hair and doing the laundry. Then I joked that I was going to have Deg get me a pinata, but then I realized I would be busting it by myself and that I have no idea what I'd want to go in it (since chocolate upsets DJ's tummy - dang it kid, you're killing me). Regardless, we had a great time.
As mentioned in the previous post, we spent the weekend with my grandparents, which was awesome. On Monday, I had Deg watch DJ so I could go shopping by myself. An hour and a half of just me in a store so I could try on clothes - that was the best gift I could ask for! And I needed clothes - this post baby body is trying really hard to make me have self esteem issues, plus my feet grew a whole size and haven't shrunk, either. I was grateful to have the time and to find some things I could enjoy.
The next day was the big day, and we celebrated by putting an offer on a house. I won't go into details now because stuff is still getting worked out and if something goes wrong, that would be no fun, but that was a really exciting thing to do for my birthday! I'll let you know how that works out.
I talked to all my siblings and parents and my best friend Heather on the phone (I had to charge it twice and it still died), which is really my favorite part of birthdays. I love talking to my family. They're pretty great people. About the time the phone calls ceased, we headed to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. And no, I didn't get any cheesecake. I was way too full for that business. DJ was flirting it up with the waitresses and making friends left and right. We'd gotten some kind of Buffalo wing something that came with celery and we let him chew on one of the pieces. He loved it. I tried to document it with my camera on my phone, but without the flash you couldn't see what was going on and with the flash, he looked drunk, so obviously, I will be sharing those pictures. Best mom ever.
As we were finishing, I got a text from a friend inviting me to sub in a Bunco tournament. As I have one or two friends here (that's what happens when you're the newbie), I jumped on the opportunity to go spend some time with some ladies and possibly make new friends. Deg was a sweetie and told me I had to go when I told him I felt bad about leaving him with the baby again. So off I went, and it was hilarious! I got the most wins of the night (woo woo) and got a door prize, which was pretty neat. Hopefully they need subs more often!
So it might have been a little uneventful (minus the whole putting an offer on a house thing), but it was a really enjoyable birthday. Here's to one last year of my 20s! And now, for pictures.
