DJ is two months old

Didn't I just do a post about how he was one month old? Sheesh! Time sure flies when you're a wicked cute baby! As you can see, he's chunking up, and it's adorable. He's kinda short (but look at his folks!) and his head is kind of small (definitely a trait from Dad and not from Mom), but his pediatrician is really pleased with his growth and development. And his cuteness. Let's take a look at DJ's progress this month.

  • Tummy time is still something that happens and, while not our favorite time of day, DJ can get his head to nearly a 90 degree angle - woo hoo! He can lift up his leg as if he's gonna start rolling from his front to his back, but we've still got a ways to go until that roll happens.
  • Little dude loves to sit facing forward so he can see everything. That is unless he's not feeling well (ie immunizations or coming out of sedation) or is tired, and then he likes to snuggle on your shoulder and burrow his head into your neck.
  • When I get him out of his bassinet first thing in the morning, he gives me the cutest good morning smile and keeps on smiling for most of the day. It's pretty great. In fact, sometimes he gets so close to laughing that it's ridiculous.
  • He is "talking" a lot these days, especially if you make his noises back to him, you play him back a video of him talking (so he can "talk back" to himself), or if you sing to him. I think he's going to like singing because he sure likes to join in!
  • He loves music. While he's pretty good with primary songs or hymns to get him calm at night, his favorite songs are "The Cup Song" by Anna Kendrick (the one from Pitch Perfect) and "Titanium" by David Guetta. Because those are normal baby songs.
  • He is starting to recognize his name, but not all the time. We're definitely getting there, though!
  • He loves bathtime and will talk and kick and smile almost the whole time. In fact, if we hold him upright in the tub, he'll even walk across the tub. I'd film it and post it, but he'd be mad at me later if I had a naked tub video of him online.
  • He loves to talk to whoever is looking at him or holding him. That is, of course, assuming he's not snuggling them.
  • He's still working on rolling over. The softer the surface, the better he can get it (to the point where he can get from his back almost to his stomach if I put him on my bed).
  • He is starting to be able to interact with toys and by swatting at them and staring them down. He loves his play mat with hanging toys, especially when his dad climbs in there with him.
  • He still loves lights. And mirrors (I'd love mirrors, too, if I were that cute).
