Way too many to choose from :). Can't even go into the world of chapter books. Favorite picture books were anything by the Woods, Oxcart Man, The Talking Eggs, and the little Beatrix Potter books.
P.S. What's your favorite Agatha Christie book to recommend?
Natalie - good question! My personal favorites are "Murder on the Orient Express" and "And Then There Were None", but I haven't read one yet I haven't enjoyed.
I always loved Shel Silverstein's "Where the Sidewalk Ends" but remember thinking Dr. Seuss was pretty awesome because they were the first books I could read independently.

I loved "the little engine that could" the grimm's fairy tales, boxcar children series, encyclopedia brown series, and the list could go on....
Only ONE?!?! How about two... "Tikki Tikki Tembo" retold by Arlene Mosel, and "Heckedy Peg" by Audrey Wood - I'm curious, why do you want to know?
I loved the Berenstain Bears series by Stan and Jan Berenstain. I also really loved Go Dog Go.
The monster at the end of this book.
These are great ideas, all! Keep 'em coming! This was a great conversation starter - I should ask questions like this more often!
