Those of you who live away from family know that the definition of "family" can change. It can include friends, coworkers, church members, etc. My family here in Kentuckiana includes several people. Today I got to go be Aunt Jessica for Miss Emily while her mom got her wisdom teeth taken out. Heather was so nervous for how it'd all go down, so knowing that someone was there to take care of Emily made things a little easier. And Emily was an angel the whole time. Well... except for the poopy diaper. But then again, crap happens, so at least she had someone there to clean it up. :) Anyway, I was there for 4 hours, but it seemed to fly by. And knowing I was helping my new family with something they needed was all that I needed. I'll be over there a lot in the next week or two, I'm sure, while Heather heals up and while Ben tries to play Mr. Mom, but that's what friends/family are for, right? The best part? Taking a nap with Emily. There's nothing like snuggling with a sleeping baby and falling asleep yourself. Those of you who are parents are going, "Duh," I know, but this was a new one for me. It was fabulous.
You know I like to put up a picture now and then. This is obviously not from today. Poor Heather - her face is so full of gauze. I wouldn't want my picture taken like that, so I will cut her some slack... this time. Mwa ha ha!
