The Louisville Zoo is built on top of 17 miles worth of natural limestone caves. Every winter, they decorate a large chunk of the caves with a bazillion lights, blast holiday music through the tunnel, and people drive their cars through the exhibit. We went last week, but let's be honest: after that 50 days thing, I kind of blogged myself out there for a bit. So that's why this is coming to you now rather than when we went. We took our amazing friends Ben and Heather and their baby Emily with us. Good times, good times. Let the pictures/videos begin!
The entrance to the caves. Good to know we're keeping the reason for the season intact.
The nativity within the cave.
Hey, yeah, because nothing says "Happy birthday Jesus" like a manorah!
A winter wonderland.
It was, in fact, snowing when we went. And it is, in fact, snowing right now. Good thing the cavern beckoned that snowfall!
Does anyone else find it disturbing that the bottom of Santa's helicopter (by the way, when did he get one of those?) says XXX on it? "Come sit on my lap, children!"
How pretty is this cave of lights?
What happens if Frosty takes of his magical hat?
Rudolph is still learning to fly.
Santa got stuck.
Nothing says "happy holidays" like a dancing penguin.
