Day 40: a letter to a deceased person you wish you could talk to
Dear Moroni,
You were the last Nephite alive after the end-all battle between the Nephites and Lamanites. It must have been really, really painful and difficult to watch everyone die (including your own family) and to know that it was because of wickedness. Totally preventable. Then, you remained alive for upwards of 40 years, all alone and in hiding from those Lamanites. If they found you, they'd have killed you, and probably quite visciously. I can't imagine what every day must have been like: alone and probably afraid for your life. I can't imagine how lonely and heartbroken you must have been. When I think of faith and perseverance, I think of you. Hopefully, as I continue to try to do what's right, I'll be able to start to develop faith like yours. I'd love to be able to talk to you, to hear how you managed such faith, what you did with your time, and just get to experience your presence. I hope that one day I get to do that. Thanks for being one of my heroes and for being such a great example to me.
Sincerely,
Jessica
