Day 30: a letter to the friendliest person you knew for only one day
Dear guy who sat next to me on the airplane,
Usually, I don't talk to people on airplanes. I figure that most people on airplanes are tired, grumpy, uncomfortable, and hungry, because that's usually what I am when I'm on an airplane. Plus, so many people plug themselves into their headphones or books and then there's no hope for conversation. And, how do you strike up conversation with a stranger that you'll never see again? I digress. Anyway...
It was so great to meet you. You were so nice and so willing to talk to both Deg and I.about your family, your children, your mom and your grandma. And you were so excited to hear about us as well. You were thrilled about Deg's job offer and so excited for his graduation. You seemed to genuinely care about us even though you'd only met us moments before. And as we landed, you got a call from your wife that she'd just miscarried, and you shared this with us and weren't afraid to cry in front of us. We would have felt bad for you anyway, but our hearts bled for you and we sympathized with you because of your genuine interest in us. We both still remember you and our wonderful visit. We hope your family is doing well and we hope you and your wife have found happiness and are able to have the baby you so hoped for.
Sincerely,
Jessica
PS: I walked an hour today. Woo.
