Karma

I have this student. He's a royal pain. I think he's done 3 assignments in his life. Attitude problems galore. No idea what the definition of "responsibility" is. Just a sad, sad story. Well, then there was yesterday. He did his work. The first time he was asked. And asked me if he was doing it correctly. It was done relatively quickly. He stayed in line during the fire drill. He even offered to wind up the cord on my overhead projector. I'm thinking, "Whaaaaat? What is wrong with you? And can I bank on this happening again because this is great!" And then it happened. One of the sweet girls in my class started freaking out. There was a bug on her backpack. Well, ordinarily problem child jumps to her rescue. He sweeps over and scoops up the bug and rushes it outside. Once there, the door closes and locks behind him and the bug stings him. So here he is, all trying to help out, locked out of the building, with a huge welt growing from this bite. Oh karma, why choose this moment to strike back? The one day he was good! Gaaah!
