My dear lovelies at the school had their musical last night. It was called Inspector Incognito and the Kansas City Kid. If you've never heard of it, that's no surprise. It's just one we found in a catalog somewhere. But regardless, somehow we did it. I was so proud of them - they did such a good job! Seriously, they made my job as director easy. And every time I do something like this with the kids, they get me something. Last time, it was like 3 dozen roses. This time... it was a plant and some balloons. And two goldfish. Goldfish!?! Yeah, goldfish. They even named them for me. They are known as "The Scarlet Pimperfish." (We are reading The Scarlet Pimpernel in 8th lit). Individually, they are known as Sir Percy and Lady Marguerite. One is gold and one is gold and black. How random, though! Serious, they bought me goldfish! Not only that, but they bought me a tank for them and food for them! Crimeny! It was so funny!
It all started a few weeks ago when I told one of them, in class, that he would be distracted by anything, including a goldfish. (He was having a really hard time that day focusing on anything.) So after that, any time any of them got distracted over anything, either myself or another student would look at the person and yell, "Goldfish?" So now I own two goldfish. It was cute of them to get them for me, for sure.
