A call from a friend

I got a call from an old friend of mine today. She and I met each other quite a while ago, when I was dating a guy who she really liked. The relationship (obviously) didn't work out, which is okay, but she was heartbroken. I mean, I was pretty upset, but she was devistated. She was convinced that this young man and I were a match made in heaven. So when she called today to tell me about her life and the exciting things going on in it related to school, family, etc., she brought up this old relationship. She strongly urged me to call up this guy and ask him if he would like to hang out.

I almost started laughing into the phone, which would have been really rude. But it was funny. After all, it's been quite a while since this young man and I dated, and although we're still friends, there are reasons we are not dating anymore. I still really care about him as a friend and occasionally will talk to him, but it was just so funny to see how convinced she still was that we were meant to be. Oh the good times...

I sometimes wonder what people would do with one wish if they were guaranteed that one wish would come true. I'm convinced this gal pal of mine would wish that this guy and I would get married and live happily ever after. My wish would honestly be about me, so it's cool that hers would be unselfish, but at the same time, oh brother! One day I will meet a guy and fall in love and get married, but to this friend of mine, he won't be good enough because he won't be the guy she's fallen in love with for me. Oh friends, they're so much fun!
